Isuzu Motors India has finally launched the MU-X SUV in India at a starting price of ₹ 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 4×2 variant and ₹ 25.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 4×4 variant. This news has been earlier reported at CarKrew.com on May 1, 2017.
The vehicle is built on the same platform as the new-generation D-Max and carries a lot of design and styling elements from the D-Max pickup truck as well. It will directly compete with Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
The Isuzu MU-X has been launched with only one engine option, which is the 3-litre diesel that makes 174 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed sequential shift automatic transmission and is also offered in a 4×4 ‘Terrain Command’ variant with the electronic shift-on-the-fly rotary dial.
|Max Power||174 bhp at 3,600 rpm|
|Max Torque||380 Nm at 1,800-2,800 rpm|
|Fuel Efficiency||13.8 kmpl|
The MU-X looks identical to the V-Cross. But the facelifted 2017 MU-X gets restyled grille and updated Bi-LED projector headlights, which the V-Cross will probably get at a later stage in India (international version looks quite identical, though). There are also new 16″ or 18″ inch alloys depending on spec.
The 4×4 version will get 4×4 high and 4×4 low ratios as well. One can select the 4×4 high ratio up till the speed of 100 kmph. The Isuzu MU-X boasts of a claimed fuel efficiency of 13.8 kmpl.
|Ground Clearance||220 mm|
Currently, the company has achieved 70 per cent localization for all of its models in India. The assembly of the MU-X will be locally executed at their new manufacturing facility in SriCity near Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border.
