On September 4, 2017, Audi has introduced the petrol derivative of the Q7 SUV – “2017 Audi Q7 40 TFSI quattro”. The diesel engine variant was introduced in late 2015.
The petrol version of Audi Q7 was launched in India at a price tag of Rs 67.76 lakh (ex-showroom) post the Supreme Court’s decision to ban diesel vehicles over 2000 cc in Delhi and NCR last year.
The 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine churns out 252 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque making the SUV capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 233 kmph. This is also possible due to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
The engine comes mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission. Overall, the vehicle is more fuel efficient thanks to enhancements to the exhaust manifold integration, improved Audi valve-lift system and innovative thermal management.
The fuel efficiency of new petrol Q7 stands at 11.68 kmpl. This is much than the older gen Q7, thanks to 325 kg weight loss which has been made possible due to the new MLB platform.
Interiors of the new Audi Q7 comes with a Virtual Cockpit instrument display and new design accents. A new touch-controlled MMI system and Android Auto besides Apple CarPlay are the part of the Q7’s infotainment system while rear passengers are provided with tablets with 3D audio.
The new Audi Q7 TFSI 40 quattro directly competes with Volvo XC90, BMW X5 and Mercedes Benz GL Class in India.
